Plenty of shade if you know where to look

It’s hot day here at the Fair so shady spots are quickly proving popular and sparse.  We’ve done a circuit and have found there are some great spots to still be outside but cool in the shade.

Historically, the grassy area on the east side of the Big Air Conditioned Building has been a great spot to pull up a bench or patch of grass to rest and cool down in the breeze.  You have to choose the time right, though, because it doesn’t get shady until the mid-late afternoon.  This year, this is also where the Pirate’s Parrot Show is set up.

We were excited to find a new tent in the Kids’ Park behind the Dairy Women Milkshake Barn.  That is always a great spot with lots of trees and breeze, but it’s even better now with a larger tent and even more seating.

You can also find some breezy bleachers at the Goat Show Ring, the grass along the hill behind the Grandstands, and the seats at the Columbian Community Stage underneath the Sling-Shot ride.

A particularly nice bonus about many of these spots is that you also might get to watch a show while taking a cool breather.

I am a Clark County Fair Fanatic and eat all things fried during the glorious 10 days of The Fair. I have lived in Clark County since 2004 and consider it the second-best decision of my life. I am married to a great guy named Rob (first-best decision) who graciously carries my stuff and takes my picture every time I eat something at The Fair. We have two indoor cats and lots of deer, rabbits, and coyotes who are kind enough to stay outside.
