If It’s Drizzling, It Must Be Opening Day!

If it is a grey drizzly summer day in Clark County, there’s a really good chance it’s one of two days:  the Grand Floral Parade in Portland or Opening Day of the Clark County Fair.  Gotta love tradition!

The last day of measurable rain near PDX was on June 26.  Raise your hand if you are surprised the dry spell broke within hours of free pancakes.  Anyone?

Rest assured, after today the forecast looks beautifully warm and sunny for the rest of The Fair.  Low to mid-80s, bright sunshine, maybe a few pesky clouds in the morning.  And so far nothing approaching the sweltering 100s we sweated through last year’s Fair.  Those walk-through misters were fun, though.

So grab a light jacket and a baseball hat and head to the first day of the Clark County Fair like the hearty Pacific Northwesterner that you are.  A little rain never stops us.

See you there!!

I am a Clark County Fair Fanatic and eat all things fried during the glorious 10 days of The Fair. I have lived in Clark County since 2004 and consider it the second-best decision of my life. I am married to a great guy named Rob (first-best decision) who graciously carries my stuff and takes my picture every time I eat something at The Fair. We have two indoor cats and lots of deer, rabbits, and coyotes who are kind enough to stay outside.
