Area all-stars preparing for college baseball and softball

Skyview baseball standout Alec Chaney recently announced his signing with Lewis-Clark State in Lewiston, Idaho.

That got me thinking about the many, many baseball players who are planning to play ball in college.

Our region also has plenty of softball players who are college-ready.

The Columbian tries to list all athletes who move on to college athletes, either in print or on the blog. On Wednesday, I went to the local all-star games to track down the players and list their colleges.

At Propstra Stadium, the 37th Southwest Washington Senior All-Star Game doubleheader was played Wednesday. At the same time, the Senior All-Star Challenge Southwest Washington Series softball doubleheader was held across the way at Clark College.

Here is the list of players who expect to be playing ball in college. Hopefully we have already reported on the college-bound athletes who did not compete in Wednesday’s games. If we missed somebody, e-mail us at sports@columbian.com.
