Mountain View ready for its Shoot-For-Cure night

It started a few years ago.

A girls basketball program or two held a Pink Night, or a some other theme designed to raise funds for breast cancer research as well as honor survivors.

Nowadays, just about every program has a night for the fight. Camas. Prairie. Columbia River. Union had one the other night. And others.

Quite simply, it has been amazing to see these “Pink” nights grow and grow through the years.

Friday, it’s Mountain View’s night for charity. The Thunder will host Shoot-For-A-Cure night when they take on Columbia River at 7 p.m. (Originally scheduled for 5:30 p.m., the girls and boys games have switched times. The boys will tip-off at 5:30 p.m.)

Organizers said that funds for this year’s event will go to “Breast Friends,” a local group that matches a survivor with someone who was recently diagnosed with the disease.

More than 20 local business have donated gifts and coupons to be used in the fund-raising event.
