Prep athlete of the week nominees 1/7

Nominees for The Columbian’s prep athlete of the week for the week of Dec. 31-Jan. 6.

MATT BRAATEN, L A CENTER BOYS BASKETBALL: Braaten had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Ilwaco.

JESSICA FLANAGAN, WOODLAND GIRLS BASKETBALL: Flanagan had 12 points and five assists in a win over King’s Way Christian, and had nine points, five rebounds and four assists in a win over Toledo.

JASMIN KARLOUS, CAMAS GYMNASTICS: Karlous won the vault (9.1) and the all-around (34.30) in a meet with Skyview and Hudson’s Bay.

JIM NGUYEN, EVERGREEN BOYS SWIMMING: Nguyen won the 50 freestyle in 24.31 seconds and won the 100 breaststroke in a state-qualifying time of 1:02.19 in a meet with Skyview and Fort Vancouver.

JOHN WHITE, RIDGEFIELD WRESTLING: White earned a runner-up finish at the Bearcat Classic in Chehalis at 195 pounds. White is ranked third in the state at his weight class at Class 2A.
