Prep athlete of the week nominees 12/31

Nominees for The Columbian’s prep athlete of the week for the week of Dec. 24-30. There are only three nominees because boys swimmers, gymnasts and bowlers were idle.

TYLER COPP, UNION BOYS BASKETBALL: Copp averaged 15.7 points a game in three big wins for the Titans on their way to winning the Tournament of Champions at Franklin HS in Seattle.

NIKKI CORBETT, CAMAS GIRLS BASKETBALL: Corbett averaged 13.5 points and 10 rebounds over four games at the Nike Interstate Shootout in Lake Oswego, Ore., in which the Papermakers went 2-2.

KENJI YAMASHITA, MOUNTAIN VIEW WRESTLING: Yamashita beat Parker Folliard of Oregon City 7-1 in the 138-pound final at the Pacific Coast Championships at Hudson’s Bay. It was the second tournament championship in as many weeks for Yamashita.
