Prep athlete of the week nominees 12/17
Nominees for The Columbian’s prep athlete of the week for the week of Dec. 10-15.
ERIC BUGNA, SKYVIEW BOYS SWIMMING: Bugna made a state qualifying time in the 100 butterfly (54.84) and also won the 100 backstroke (57.82) in a meet at Kelso.
LUKE DUCHESNE, MOUNTAIN VIEW BOYS BASKETBALL: DuChesne scored 21 points in each of the Thunder’s opening two 3A Greater St. Helens League games.
DEJA NICHOLAS, EVERGREEN GIRLS BASKETBALL: It was a busy week for Nicholas and Evergreen, which played five games last week. Nicholas averaged 23 points a game over the week, helping Evergreen reach the title game of the North Marion (Ore.) Tournament.
LEILA STUTESMAN, HERITAGE BOWLING: Stutesman averaged 185 in six games bowled last week, including games of 174 and 236 in win over R.A. Long.
STEPHEN CAMDEN, WASHOUGAL WRESTLING: Camden won two matches by first-round pins en route to placing second in the 170-pound division at the Hammerhead Invitational in Silverdale.
