Fall prep sports athlete of the week nominees 11/5
Nominees for The Columbian’s fall sports athlete of the week for the week of Oct. 29-Nov. 3.
AURORA BODENHAMER, HOCKINSON GIRLS SOCCER: Bodenhamer scored four goals as the Hawks won three loser-out games to clinch a berth in the Class 2A state tournament.
MONICA BOTTELBERGHE, COLUMBIA RIVER GIRLS SWIMMING: Bottelberghe won two individual district titles, setting a Kelso pool record in the 200 freestyle and qualifying for state as the No. 1 seed in that event at the 3A district meet.
ALEXA EFRAIMSON, CAMAS GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: Efraimson won the Class 4A state championship by 36 seconds and helped the Papermakers capture their second consecutive team championship at the state meet in Pasco.
COLBY GILBERT, SKYVIEW BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: Gilbert was the top finishing Clark County runner at the state meet in Pasco, placing third overall in the Class 4A boys race in 15:21.
SOPHIE KUEHL, COLUMBIA RIVER VOLLEYBALL: Kuehl recorded 105 digs and five aces in five matches last week, helping the Chieftains captured the Class 3A bi-district championship.
