Predictions: Columbian staffer vs. Score Czar
By now, you’ve probably heard of the Score Czar — or at least we hope you have.
The Score Czar, who is also known as Vancouver resident Scott Odiorne when he’s not perched high on his throne (and even sometimes when he is), is the Twitter handle and online moniker for an avid football fan who uses a computer-based formula to rank high school football teams in the region.
And now that the postseason is upon us, the Score Czar also offers a decree in which he predicts the scores of playoff games around the state.
So I figured since I have picking winners and predicting scores all season for Clark County area teams, I thought I would take my powers of prediction and put them up a head-to-head with the Score Czar and his computer.
I saw this as an epic confrontation.
Machine vs. Man
Super Computer vs. Mild-mannered reporter
Statistical analysis vs. deductive reasoning
Imperial forecasting vs. the prognosticating proletariat
And then I looked at my picks, and I looked at the Score Czar’s picks. And they are pretty much the same.
What a buzz kill.
Of the nine playoff games involving teams in The Columbian coverage area this weekend, the Score Czar and me are 9-for-9 in agreement as to the winners.
I even thought picking Union in what some might call an upset might rock the boat. But the Score Czar says the numbers favor the Titans.
