Prep fall athlete of the week nominees 10/29

Nominees for The Columbian’s fall sports athlete of the week for the week of Oct. 22-27.

SEAN EUSTIS, WASHOUGAL BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: Eustis placed second overall at the 2A district meet at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, finishing in 16 minutes, 8 seconds.

NICOLE GOECKE, PRAIRIE GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: The junior won her second regional championship, easily winning on the course at American Lake Golf Course in Tacoma in 18:46, leading the Falcons to the regional team title.

TREVOR JONES/COLTON REED, MOUNTAIN VIEW BOYS TENNIS: Jones and Reed earned a berth to next spring state tournament with a runner-up finish at the 3A bi-district tournament in Tacoma.

HALEY WHEELON, UNION GIRLS SOCCER: Wheeldon scored two goals, including one in a 2-0 win over Camas that gave the Titans the 4A Greater St. Helens League championship.

ABBIE YOUNKIN, CAMAS VOLLEYBALL: The setter recorded 77 assists, 16 digs and four aces in two Camas win that helped the Papermakers completed an unbeaten season in the 4A GSHL.
