Football playoff possibilities
4A Greater St. Helens League
Playoff spots: Three.
Standings: Camas 3-0, Union 2-1, Skyview 2-1, Heritage 1-2, Battle Ground 1-2, Evergreen 0-3.
Mathematically, no team has clinched anything nor been eliminated. However, that could change this week. Wins by Camas, Union and Skyview would lock in the three playoff spots. If all three win, Camas is No. 1, and the Union-Skyview game next week decides 2-3.
3A Greater St. Helens League
Playoff spots: Three
Standings: Mountain View 3-0, Columbia River 3-0, Kelso 2-1, Prairie 1-2, Hudson’s Bay 0-3, Fort Vancouver 0-3.
Mountain View and Columbia River have clinched playoff berths. Barring a stunning upset, Prairie can secure the third playoff spot by beating Kelso in Week 9. Fort has not yet been mathematically eliminated, but Bay has. If Mountain View beats Kelso this week, then next week’s River-Mountain View game will decide the Nos. 1-2 spots to the playoffs, and the Kelso-Prairie game will decide No. 3. However, if Kelso wins this week, it opens up a variety of possibilities heading into Week 9.
2A Greater St. Helens League
Playoff spots: Three.
Standings: Mark Morris 3-0, Ridgefield 2-1, RA Long 2-1, Hockinson 1-2, Aberdeen 1-2, Washougal 0-3.
Like, the 4A GSHL, nothing is clinched in the 2A GSHL. However, Mark Morris is in the driver’s seat. The Monarchs will clinch a playoff spot with a win this week and clinch the No. 1 seed with a win and an RA Long loss. R.A. Long can clinch the No. 1 by winning out. Ridgefield will need some help to win No. 1 spot. But the No. 2 spot can be clinched this week by the Spudders with a win and an Aberdeen loss. Too many options to consider for No. 3 spot right now.
1A Trico League
Playoff spots: Four
Standings: La Center 6-0, Woodland 6-0, Toledo 5-1, Castle Rock 4-2, White Salmon 3-3, Stevenson 3-4, Ilwaco 1-5, Kalama 0-6, Seton Catholic 0-7
Playoff berths clinched: La Center, Woodland, Toledo
Eliminated: Ilwaco, Kalama, Seton Catholic
Castle Rock can clinch the fourth playoff spot with a win over Ilwaco this week. If La Center beats Toledo this week, things get a little clearer. If that happens, then it’s La Center-Woodland in Week 9 for spots 1-2, and Toledo-Castle Rock for spots 3-4. If Toledo wins this week however, it could set up a possible three-way tie for first.
