New statewide football rankings comparison
New state rankings are out, and it’s interesting where Clark County teams land.
Camas, fresh of its impressive win over Skyview, is ranked anywhere from No. 2 to No. 4.
Funny story. Two weeks ago in my ballot on the Associated Press poll, I put the Papermakers No. 2 in Class 4A. At the time, they were ranked 6th, which I felt was low. So, to help remedy the problem, I propped the Papermakers up to No. 2 in my ballot to get them some points.
In the next poll, Camas moved up to No. 5. Then the Papermakers pounded Lakes. So I left Camas at No. 2 in my ballot the following week.
Now, the Papermakers are No. 3 behind Skyline and Federal Way.
Skyview dropped in all polls, but remained in the top 10 in all but the Tacoma News Tribune’ ranking, which moved Battle Ground in at No. 10.
Not sure about that. I’d like to see Battle Ground beat Union before I jump aboard the Tiger train. They have looked solid, but all non-league games were against 3A and 2A teams. And none of BG’s opponents currently have a winning record.
Union came in at No. 9 in the News-Tribune and coaches rankings.
No Clark County 3A or 2A teams are ranked. And I didn’t have any in my ballot.
La Center came in between No. 4 and No. 9 on all 1A rankings. I had the Wildcats at No. 8, but they face a BIG test to their ranking this week against a Tenino team I believe is flying under most radars.
Here’s the link to the rankings.
