Nominees for The Columbian’s fall sports athlete of the week for the week of Sept. 24-29.
ALEXA EFRAIMSON, CAMAS GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: The sophomore placed second overall in the seeded girls races against elite competition at the Stanford Invitational. Efraimson finished the 5,000-meter course in 17:04.
TREVOR JONES AND COLTON REED, MOUNTAIN VIEW BOYS TENNIS: After posting a straight-set win in league play, Jones and Reed swept to the doubles championship at the Thunder Invitational at Club Green Meadows with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Chad Wooten and Nathan Staley of Olympia.
BRINDL LANGLEY, CAMAS VOLLEYBALL: Langley recorded 42 kills and 39 digs as the Papermakers opened 4A GSHL play will big wins over Skyview and Union.
JULIA SANDERS, HOCKINSON GIRLS SWIMMING: Sanders made state-qualifying marks in winning the 100 butterfly (1:00.86) and 100 backstroke (1:00.08) in a meet at Mark Morris.
BEAU SCOTT, WASHOUGAL BOYS GOLF: Scott shot an even-par 70 at The Cedars on Salmon Creek to win the Prairie Invitational by two strokes.
