Nominees for The Columbian’s fall sports athlete of the week for the week of Sept. 3-8.
EDDIE ABELLAR, UNION BOYS GOLF: Abellar twice posted his team’s low score in dual matches, an ever-par 35 at The Cedars and a 3-under-par 36 at Club Green Meadows
SHANNON BOYLE, RIDGEFIELD VOLLEYBALL: Boyle had 16 kills, 3 digs and ace in the Spudders’ win over Hudson Bay and helped Ridgefield capture the title at the Hillsboro Spartan Invitational.
BRYNNE DYKES, LA CENTER GIRLS SOCCER: Dykes had six goals and two assists as the Wildcats opened with three Trico League wins.
ALEXA EFRAIMSON, CAMAS GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: A runner-up at the meet last year, the sophomore won the Hudson’s Bay Run-A-Ree in 18:00, 42 seconds faster than last year’s winner, Alexis Fuller of Union.
MARK TEDDER, BATTLE GROUND BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: Teddar won the season-opening Hudson’s Bay Run-A-Ree in 15:40, nine seconds faster than his winning time last season and 31 seconds better than the runner-up.
