Prep football player of the week nominees

Nominees for The Columbian’s high school football player of the week for Week 1 of the season. To avoid any teammates canceling each other out in the voting, we are limiting nominees to one per team.

Voting will continue through 8 p.m. on Tuesday and be announced in Wednesday’s edition of The Columbian.

CLAYTON FRANK, COLUMBIA RIVER: The quarterback completed 13 of 26 passes for 277 yards and two touchdowns. Frank also rushed for 130 yards on 17 carries and three touchdowns in the Chieftains 40-34 win over Heritage.

KEVIN HAYNES, BATTLE GROUND: The running back rushed for 316 yards on 15 carries — a 21-yard per carry average — and four touchdowns. He also had a 57-yard TD reception and finished with two catches for 63 yards in the Tigers’ 41-27 win over R.A. Long.

REILLY HENNESSEY, CAMAS: The quarterback completed 22 of 32 passes for 415 yards and four touchdowns in the Papermakers’ 63-20 win over Oregon City.

LEON SIOFELE, UNION: The running back rushed for 118 yards on 13 carries and four touchdowns. He also caught two passes for 25 yards in the Titans’ 35-7 win over Mountain View.

LOREN STANDIFORD, HERITAGE: The quarterback completed 22 of 35 passes for 305 yards and four touchdowns and added a 7-yard TD run in Heritage’s 40-34 loss to Columbia River.
