Keller wins javelin throw at junior nationals

Heritage High graduated senior Sean Keller won the javelin at the USATF Junior Championships in Bloomington, Indiana on Friday with a throw of 72.41 meters (238 feet). He reached the winning mark on his first throw.

Second-place thrower Devin Bogert, a freshman from Texas A&M University, had a mark of 66.97 meters.

The win qualifies Keller for the United States Junior Team that will compete at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Barcelona in July.

Keller won the Washington state title with a throw of 227-11 and earlier in the season set the Washington high school record with a throw of 244-1.

Keller is scheduled to compete at the U.S. Olympic Trials later this month in Eugene.
