Camas' Efraimson accepts Dream Mile invite
Camas freshman Alexa Efraimson has accepted an invitation to participate in the Adidas High School Dream Mile as part of the Adidas Grand Prix track and field meet on June 9 in New York.
Efraimson is the first freshman ever to be invited to participate in the Dream Mile, which bring together the top prep distance runners in the country.
Efraimson earned the invitation based on her win in the 1,500 meters at the Nike Jesuit Relays in Beaverton, Ore., on May 4. Her winning time of 4 minutes, 23.41 seconds ranks fourth among prep runners in the United States this season. Her season best of 2:08.92 in the 800 meters ranks No. 7.
Also invited to compete are two runners whom Efraimson beat at the Nike Jesuit Relays, Amy-Eloise Neale from Glacier Peak of Snohomish and Paige Rice of Portland’s St. Mary’s Academy. This is the second invite for Neal.
Other nationally prominent runners are slated to be part of the field, including:
- Ajee Wilson from Hillsdale, N.J., the 2011 World Youth Champion at 800 meters and a 2012 U.S. Olympic Trial qualifier who will compete for Florida State next year.
- Haley Pierce from Wilmington, Del., who will attend Georgetown next year.
- Angel Piccirillo, from Homer Center, Pa., who will attend Villanova next year.
