Friday's prep highlights 4/20
BASEBALL
Evergreen 4, Heritage 1: Austin Hadley held Heritage to four hits and struck out 12 as the Plainsmen remained within a half-game of first place in the 4A Greater St. Helens League League.
Hudson’s Bay 8, Kelso 6: Buck Hale’s bases-loaded, two-run single in the top of the 10th send the Eagles to the 3A GSHL win. Hale finished 4 for 5 with a run, stolen base and three RBI.
Skyview 4, Camas 3: Alec Chaney went 2 for 4 with two doubles as the Storm scored single runs in the sixth, seventh and eight innings to win a non-league game.
BOYS SOCCER
Union 3, Heritage 0: Danny Cohen had a goal and an assist as the Titans kept the pressure on first-place Skyview in the 4A GSHL.
Prairie 1, Camas 0: Jurgen Hartung scored the game’s only goal and Brendan Shaw added six saves in goal as Prairie handed the Papermakers their second loss this week. Prairie and Camas are now tied atop the 3A GSHL standings at 6-2 with four matches to play.
Mountain View 9, Kelso 0: Ngawang Choephel scored three goals, including the Thunder’s first two.
BOYS TRACK AND FIELD
Wilson Invitational: Marcus Ekeya won the long jump (20-6) and triple (41-10 3/4) to lead Columbia River to the team title over Union 156-144. Union’s Joe Thompson cleared 14-0 to win the pole vault.
Canby Invitational: Battle Ground’s Jake Blackman won the 110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles and placed second in the shot put. Teammate Mark Tedder won the 1,500 meters.
Bruin Invitational: Nick Barclay won the 100 meters and the 400 meters to lead Hockinson to the team title with 166 points at the meet at White Salmon.
GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD
Wilson Invitational: Alexis Fuller won the 1,500 meters and the 3,000 meters to lead Union to the team title in Portland with 170 points. Columbia River was second (125). Heritage’s Tee Tee Martin (100 and 200) and Guadalupe Mendoza (shot put, discus) were dual winners. And River’s Jennifer DeBellis cleared 12-0 to win the pole vault.
Oregon Relays: The Camas distance medley team of Camille Parsons, Kimi Knight, Austen Reiter and Alexa Efraimson took second place in the first day of the two-day event in Eugene, Ore.
Bruin Invitational: Stevenson’s Jen Rathgeber won four events — 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, long jump and triple jump — but it wasn’t enough for the Bulldogs to beat Hockinson for the team title. Hockinson won with 177 points to Stevenson’s 106. Rathgeber’s winning mark in the long jump of 17-6 won the event by almost three feet. Michel Berry won the 100 and 200 and Chantalle Blundell won the 1,600 and 3,200 to lead Hockinson.
