Friday (April 13) Highlights

SOFTBALL:

Camas 9, Prairie 8, 8 innings: Mikaela Searight hit for the cycle, and Sarah Nidick’s lone hit, a double, was the game-winner in the bottom of the eighth. In a battle of league unbeatens, the Papermakers lost a six-run lead before bouncing back for the victory.

Searight hit a home run, then followed with a triple, a double and a single. She drove in three runs.

Prairie’s Chelsea Creech went 3 for 4 with a home run and drove in five runs.

Union 5, Evergreen 2: Emma Alfonso struck out six in the victory. He also added a double and a run scored.

Skyview 5, Heritage 3: Madison Van Liew had three hits and drove in three runs, and Michelle Brincefield struck out nine as the Storm remained in first place in the 4A GSHL.

Hudson’s Bay 12, Columbia River 10, 8 innings: Kaycee Jones hit two home runs for the Eagles.

BASEBALL

Columbia River 3, Mountain View 1: Columbia River rallied with three unearned runs in the final two innings, handing Mountain View its first league loss. Mountain View’s Zach Torson allowed two hits, one walk and no earned runs while striking out nine, but ended up with the loss.

Fort Vancouver 7, Hudson’s Bay 6: Anthony Gardner got the win and Hayden Heying picked up the save for the Trappers. And there is peace again in the McGrew household. Bryce, the head coach at Fort, evened up his record against his brother, Ben, the head coach at Bay. The two teams split their games this week.

Skyview 6, Evergreen 4: Brayden Maney hit a home run and drove in two runs for the Storm.

Camas 5, Kelso 0: The Papermakers avenged its loss Thursday by beating the Hilanders on Friday. Austin Barr hit a two-run home run and Connor McClellan, Gabe Heredia and Luke Minder combined for the pitching shutout. The victory moved the Papermakers a half-game ahead of Mountain View in the 3A Greater St. Helens League standings.

Hockinson 5-11, Washougal 0-0: Doug Macdonald threw a five-inning, one-hit shutout for Hockinson in the nightcap of a 2A GSHL sweep. He also went 5 for 7 with 6 RBI in the two games.

Skyview 6, Heritage 1: Carter Johnson scored three goals.

Union 7, Evergreen 1: Nathaniel Cheney had two goals and an assist for the Titans.

Prairie 3, Hudson’s Bay 1: Igor Shapoval scored two goals and assisted on the other for the Falcons.

Camas 5, Fort Vancouver 1: Adam Allison scored the first two goals of the night for the Papermakers.

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

Aloha (Ore.) Relays: Heritage’s Tee Tee Martin won the 100 meters in 12.64 seconds, and Abby Knight won the 3,000 in 11:07.48.
