Friday’s prep highlights 3/23

BASEBALL

Battle Ground 5, Skyview 3: The Tigers pushed across two runs in the bottom of sixth to win their 4A Greater St. Helens League opener. Jay Becker and Hayden Humphrey each were 2 for 4 with a run scored for Battle Ground.

Union 4, Heritage 0: Jake Hawken went 3 for 3 with two doubles, Clint Coulter hit a home run and Trey Christianson threw a three-hit shutout in the 4A GSHL opener for both teams.

Fort Vancouver 2, Prairie 1: Noel Solis had a two-run single in the first inning, and pitcher Anthony Gardner made it stand up in the 3A GSHL opener for both teams.

Columbia River 6, Kelso 0: Clark Bryant hit a home run, and Michael McCann had a two-run double as the Chieftains scored six runs in the fourth inning in a 3A GSHL opener. Seth Raburn threw a three-hit shutout for River with six strikeouts.

Ridgefield 12-14, White Salmon 0-4: Brady Williams threw a five-inning no hitter in the opener as the Spudders swept at Trico League doubleheader. Williams struck out nine and walked four. He also added a run-scoring double.

SOFTBALL

Mountain View 8, Woodland 5: Jesse Alcomendas had two-run triple in the sixth inning to get the Thunder rolling. Then Mountain View scored four runs in the seventh as the Thunder rallied from a 5-2 deficit.

Prairie 7, Battle Ground 6: Jessica McDonald went 2 for 3 with a home run, 3 RBI and two runs for Prairie. She also pitched the Falcons to the win.

Camas 5, Skyview 3, 8 inn: Sarah Nidick had a double and three RBI for Camas, which scored twice in the top of the eighth to beat Skyview in a non-league game. Michelle Brincefield struck out 12 batters in the loss for Skyview.

Evergreen 4, Hudson’s Bay 3: Sarah Miller and Marissa Shannon each went 2 for 4 with a run scored as Evergreen scored a run in the sixth and another in the seventh to beat Bay.

BOYS SOCCER

Skyview 4, Evergreen 0: Cole Howard scored two goals and Sean Price had two assists as Skyview improve to 4-0 in the 4A GSHL.

Prairie 6, Kelso 0: Igor Shapoval had two goals and an assist for the Falcons.

Hockinson 3, Mark Morris 0: Conner Bielat scored two goals and Mitchell Pinney added a goal and an assist for the Hawks.

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

Columbia River 93, Kelso 52: Columbia River’s Darius Raiford won the 200 meters in 21.21 seconds, the best time posted in the state this season, according to athletic.net. He also won the 100 meters in 11.26 seconds. Nicholas McMillan won the 1,600 (4:41.75) and 3,200 (10:15.2).

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

Kelso 96, Columbia River 54 River’s Emily Morgan won the 100 meters and Easton Kawawaki won the 200, both in times that rank among the best in the state at Class 3A. Morgan won in 12.57 seconds; Kawawaki won in 26.82.
