Jessica Chatman accepts offer from BYU

And yet another member of the Chatman family is headed to Brigham Young University.

Union sophomore Jessica Chatman received a scholarship offer from BYU coach Jeff Judkins last week, and she accepted.

“BYU is the only place I’ve wanted to play,” Chatman told the Deseret News of Salt Lake City. “I love BYU. I love the coaches there, and it’s going to be great playing there with my brother.”

Jessica’s brother, Jordan Chatman, signed a letter of intent to play for BYU, after he returns from a two-year church mission in Taiwan. Jessica and Jordan both plan to enroll at BYU for the 2014-15 basketball season.

“I like how Coach Judkins coaches his players and how he’s easy-going and always positive,” Jessica Chatman said. “He runs an uptempo style, which is perfect for my game. It’s just a great opportunity for me, and I couldn’t be more excited.”

Jessica Chatman averaged 14.4 points a game for the Titans last season and earned a spot of the Class 4A Greater St. Helens League first team.
