Columbia River gymnasts update (3:45 p.m.)

Jennifer DeBellis scored a 9.200 on the uneven bars, a score that likely will be good enough to make it to the Class 3A state finals on Saturday.

However, for the second event in a row, the team struggled. No one else scored higher than an 8.150. That, along with a tough vault, pretty much ends Columbia River’s hopes of a team gymnastics championship.

“Now it’s time to rally the team and focus on the beam and getting as many as we can to finals,” Columbia River coach Alicia Green said.

She was proud of DeBellis’ performance. DeBellis was one of the Chieftains who had a rough turn at the vault.

“She overcame her obstacle of the vault. She turned it arouind and did an awesome bars,” Green said.

I will give an update for the entire 3A team/all-around meet after its conclusion in an hour or so.
