Penn State makes offer to Camas’ Warner

Camas wide receiver Jonathan Warner could be following in his father’s footsteps to Penn State.

Warner told Dirk Knudsen of the Northwest Prep Report that he has been offered a full-ride scholarship to Penn State. The 6-foot, 200-pound receiver will making an official visit to the University Park, Pa., campus this weekend.

Camas coach John Eagle confirmed the offer.

Curt Warner, the former Penn State All-American running back, sent his son’s game-film to Penn State. A few days, Penn State assistant coach Larry Johnson called Jonathan Warner.

“Coach told me ‘Happy Birthday … you’re getting older,’ And I think I told him thanks,” said the Camas senior, whose birthday was Wednesday. “Then out of the blue he told me that Penn State loved my film and were offering me a full ride to come out there and be a wide receiver for them. So I have a full ride offer there.”

Warner told Knudsen he’s looking forward to the visit, but has not made a verbal pledge to the Nittany Lions yet.

“You know I have been there three or four times before,” Warner said of Penn State’s Beaver Stadium. “But never as a recruit.”
