When, where: 7 p.m. Saturday at Edmonds District Stadium (Class 3A state preliminary round). Webcast: www.carlclick.com.
Last meeting: First meeting.
MEADOWDALE (9-0)
Last week: beat Oak Harbor 34-17.
Players to watch: QB Brian Marty 51-88, 724 yards, 12 TDs; RB Giavani Shepard 112-828 yards, 8 TDs; RB Kyle Newsom 63-422, 9 TDs; WR Ryan White 17-305, 2 TDs; Kyler Larson 13-300, 5 TDs.
Notes: The sixth-ranked Mavericks have not had an especially close game all season. Their closest game was last week’s 34-17 win over Oak Harbor. … The Mavericks have scored at least 27 points in every game this season and at least 34 in eight of nine games … The defense has been solid. No opponent has scored more than 17 of Meadowdale. Six of nine foes haven’t score more than 8. … Meadowdale is seeking its fifth consecutive state tournament berth.
PRAIRIE (6-3)
Last week: beat Battle Ground 39-27.
Players to watch: QB Colin Seitz 133-204, 2015 yards, 28 TDs; RB-WR Jesse Zalk 46-345 rushing, 3 TDs, 33-642 receiving, 8 TDs; WR Ansel Cecil 43-752, 14 TDs.
Notes: Seitz has thrown for 2,015 yards and 28 TDs this season and he missed two games with a concussion. … Prairie won its final four games to clinch its first winning season since 1997. … That was the last postseason berth, too (1997). … Prairie has scored 39 points or more in five games, 28 or more in all but two games. … Zalk is a threat all over the field — as a runner, receiver, kick returner, defender and punter.
Bottom line: Advancing to the playoffs is a great accomplishment for the Falcons, and they have the talent to do some damage. But this is a very difficult draw for Prairie.
Columbian’s pick: Meadowdale.
Fans’ pick: Praire (83 percent).
