Last meeting: W.F. West won 43-2 on Nov. 6, 2009 in 2A district playoff.

W.F. WEST (7-2)

Last week: lost to North Thurston 52-6.

Notes: The Bearcats from Chehalis placed third in the 2A Evergreen Conference (4-2). … W.F. West has had its season ended with state-playoff losses to Archbishop Murphy (2009 quarterfinals, 2010 first round). … Both losses this season have been lopsided, to Tumwater (44-7) and North Thurston.

HOCKINSON (7-2)

Last week: beat Washougal 14-7, OT.

Players to watch: QB Jess Krahn 50-104, 854 yards, 7 TDs; RB Josiah Niemela 125-826, 9 TDs; WR Beau Sparks 23-431, 6 TDs.

Notes: Hockinson’s offense bogged down on sloppy field conditions last week. The Hawks hope for better results on District Stadium’s FieldTurf. … The Hawks’ two losses this season have come against 3A teams Prairie and Columbia River. … Hockinson has won five consecutive games. … Hockinson 0-4 in district playoff games, losing by an average score of 43-11. … Hockinson shares a common opponent with W.F. West. The Bearcasts beat Mark Morris 35-14 on Oct. 14. Hockinson beat Mark Morris 14-13 on Oct. 7.

Bottom line: Since 2007, 2A GSHL teams not named Mark Morris are 1-9 in these district playoffs. Not a good sign for Hockinson.
