Week 8 football preview: La Center vs. White Salmon

When, where: 7 p.m. Friday at White Salmon HS (Class 1A Trico League game).

Last meeting: La Center won 52-35 on Oct. 22, 2010 in La Center.

Last week: La Center beat Stevenson 34-8; White Salmon lost to Kalama 53-27.

La Center (5-2, 3-1): The Wildcats have won four in a row since opening the season 1-2. … A win Friday at White Salmon puts La Center in position to play for the Trico League championship against Kalama next week at home. … A win Friday also clinches a postseason berth for the Wildcats.

White Salmon (0-7, 0-4): The Bruins have not only gone winless this season, they haven’t struggled to keep games close. The closest game this season was a 20-point loss to Castle Rock on Sept. 30.

Bottom line: La Center has held its past three opponents to 8 points or fewer. Look for more of the same.
