Week 7 football preview: Hudson's Bay vs. Prairie

When, where: 7 p.m. Friday at District Stadium, Battle Ground (Class 3A Greater St. Helens League game).

Last meeting: Prairie won 27-21 on Oct. 15, 2010 in Vancouver.

Last week: Prairie beat Columbia River 19-9; Hudson’s Bay lost to Camas 58-0.

Hudson’s Bay (0-6, 0-3): The Eagles have been scored in their past two games. Bay has been shut out three times this season. … Richard Carter leads Bay with 413 yards rushing … Carter was held to 18 yards against Camas. … Passing remains a sore spot for Bay. The Eagles managed only 34 yards on 15 attempts last week (six completions).

Prairie (3-3, 2-1): The Falcons look to get QB Colin Seitz back this week. Seitz has missed the past two games with a concussion suffered in a Week 4 win over Fort Vancouver. … Backup QB David Taylor managed the offense to a victory. He passed for 148 yards. … To beat River, tFalcons depended on two facets of their game that have been a weak spot — defense and the running game. Jesse Zalk rushed for 92 yards last week, and caught two passes for 102 yards. … One bad omen: Prairie’s season has followed a pattern: loss-win-loss-win-loss-win.

Bottom line: Last week’s win was a big boost to Prairie’s playoff hopes. The Falcons should buck their seasonal loss-win patter. If Seitz return, they should do it easily.

Columbian’s pick: Prairie.

Fans’ pick: Prairie (89 percent).
