Week 6 football preview: R.A. Long vs. Woodland

Last week: R.A. Long lost to Washougal 42-14; Woodland beat Mark Morris 21-14.
R.A. Long (1-4, 0-1): The Lumberjacks enter this game on a three-game skid. … QB Ryan Peerboom threw of 252 yards against Washougal, but completed only 14 of 32 pass attempts. … Stop Jacob Yordy, and you stop R.A. Long. Yordy had 55 rushing yards last week, and caught eight passes for 134 yards. … Yordy has caught 26 passes for 376 yards this season. He’s also a threat in the return game.
Woodland (2-3, 1-0: The Beavers opened the season depending on a solid running attack. But the passing game has started to hit its stride in recent weeks. … QB Adam Shoup completed 17 of 26 passes for 220 yards and two TDs last week against Mark Morris. … Shoup has passed for 628 yards and seven TDs this season. … WR Nick Fuller had a solid game last week with 4 catches for 104 yards. … RB Cy Whitmire ranks fourth among area rushers with 570 yards and 5 TDs.
Bottom line: Woodland is working hard to erase all memory of last season’s winless campaign. Now, the Beavers are 1-0 in league, and the Lumberjacks look vulnerable.
