Week 6 football preview: Columbia River vs. Prairie

When, where: 7 p.m. Friday at Chieftain Stadium, Columbia River HS (3A Greater St. Helens League game)

Last meeting: Columbia River won 27-21 on Oct. 8, 2010 at Battle Ground

Last week: Columbia River beat Hudson’s Bay 37-0; Prairie lost to Camas 35-6.

Prairie (2-3, 1-2): Prairie was a different team last week against Camas, when QB Colin Seitz sat out with a concussion suffered in the previous week. … The Falcons only passed for 41 yards against Camas. … Senior Jesse Zalk rushed for 57 yards and a TD. … WR Ansel Cecil was held to a season-low 1 catch for three yards. … With losses already to Camas and Mountain View, a loss to River would all but end Prairie’s playoff hopes.

Columbia River (4-1, 2-1): Remick Kawawaki rushed for 197 yards on 12 carries last week, including TD runs of 53 and 80 yards. … Kawawaki has rushed for 698 yards on the season. … QB Clayton Frank passed for 209 yards, completing passes to six different receivers, vs. Bay.

Bottom line: If Seitz plays, this could be a great game. One thing not to expect: a huddle. Both teams like a fast-paced attack.

Columbian’s pick: Columbia River.

Fans’ pick: Columbia River.
