Week 5 football preview: Camas vs. Prairie
When, where: 7 p.m. Friday at Doc Harris Stadium (3A Greater St. Helens League game)
Last meeting: Camas won 55-7 on Oct. 1, 2010 in Battle Ground.
Last week: Camas lost to Skyview 31-10; Prairie beat Fort Vancouver 70-0.
Camas (3-1, 1-0): Camas has struggled for consistency in the running game. RB Zack Marshall, an all-leaguer last year, has only one 100-yard rushing game. But he’s still rushed for 281 yards for the season. … Good news for the Papermakers is Prairie has struggled to stop the run this season. … QB Tony Gennaro has passed for 760 yards this season and 6 TDs. … This figures to be the last test for Camas before the postseason. In October, the cumulative win-loss record of Camas opponents is 2-14.
Prairie (2-2): QB Colin Seitz leads the area in passing — by a long shot. His 1083 passing yards leads the No. 2 passer in the area by more than 300 yards. His 15 TD passes is more than the totals of the area’s No. 2 and 3 QBs combined. … Seitz only attempt 10 passes in the lopsided win over Fort. … WR Ansel Cecil (25 catches, 399 yards) has 9 TD receptions. No other area receiver has more than four. … In order to claim a playoff spot, the Falcons must get improved play up front.
Bottom line: Prairie has shown it can move the ball. Stopping a quality opponent has been the Falcons’ sore spot. Camas figures to make that spot ache.
Columbian’s pick: Camas.
Fans’ pick: Camas.
