Week 4 football preview: Mountain View vs. Heritage

Last meeting: Mountain View won 30-29 on Sept. 24, 2010.

Last week: Mountain View beat Prairie 44-28; Heritage lost to Skyview 49-7.

Mountain View (2-1): Sophomore Eddie Richardson had a solid debut as the starting fullback, rushing for 110 yards on 18 carries. … The Thunder had three players gain over 70 yards on the ground (Michael Rivers 104, Sterling Reynolds 71). … In last year’s Heritage-Mountain View game, QB Riley O’Dell passed for 317 yards and RB Michael Rivers rushed for 74 yards while playing for Heritage. Both play for Mountain View this season.

Heritage (1-2): Heritage’s two losses — both lopsided — have been to 4A opponents who have been ranked in the top 10 in the state at some point this season. … QB Loren Standiford stepped in nicely after starting QB Joey Cooper injured his ankle making a tackle on defense last week against Skyview. Standiford completed 15 of 25 passes for 156 yards, no interceptions and one TD.

Bottom line: Heritage had trouble stopping Skyview’s running game last week. They’ll get another big challenge with Mountaiin View’s three-headed attack.
