Week 4 football preview: La Center vs. Ridgefield

When, where: 7 p.m. Friday at Ridgefield HS (1A Trico League game)

Last meeting: La Center won 27-13 on Sept. 24, 2010 in La Center.

Last week: Ridgefield beat White Salmon 41-7; La Center lost to Toledo 50-14.

La Center (1-2, 0-1 Trico): Turnovers and miscues hurt the Wildcats in their league opener against Toledo. … Mike Polyakov led the way with 122 yards rushing on 12 carries. … QB Jake Johnson has passed for 257 yards this season. … Patrick Mayolo has rushed for 302 yards, but was held to 13 last week.

Ridgefield (3-0, 1-0 Trico): When White Salmon focused its efforts on stopping RB Michael Knox (364 yards on the season), the Spudders turned to other playmakers. Tyson Wright rushed for 107 yards on 12 carries, and Ian Williams rushed for 53 yards on 10 carries. … Knox wasn’t totally quieted. He opened the game with a 91-yard kickoff return for a TD. .. Clayton Farr and Gunnar Long have been sharing QB duties.

Bottom line: If La Center can eliminate mistakes, they can give Ridgefield a battle. If not, the Spudders could be on their way to a 4-0 start.
