Week 3 football preview: Battle Ground vs. Woodland

When, where: 7 p.m. Friday at Woodland High School.

Last meeting: Battle Ground beat Woodland 20-14 in 2 OT on Sept. 16, 2010 in Battle Ground.

Last week: Battle Ground beat Fort Vancouver 54-13; Woodland lost to Ridgefield 27-20.

Battle Ground (1-1): The Tigers broke off a lot of long runs to pile up 404 yards of total offense against Fort Vancouver. … Trevor Ingram had 119 yards on seven carries, including a 61-yard TD run. … Kevin Haynes rushed for 106 yards on five carries. … Blake Billingsley had a 45-yard TD run. … QB Ian Humphrey completed only one pass, but it went for a 69-yard TD to Trevor Ingram. … Humphrey threw for 194 yards against Columbia River in Week 1, as the Tigers could get little started on the ground.

Woodland (1-1): Cy Whitmire had rushed for 320 yards in the first two game and had an 80-yard touchdown run last week against Ridgefield. … He also returned a fumble 58 yards for a touchdown, and he caught seven passes for 49 yards. … QB Adam Shoup completed 14 of 26 passes for 141 yards against Ridgefield. … Eli Whitmire rushed for just 14 yards last week after running for 210 in Week 1 … The Beavers reached the red zone twice in the final five minutes last week, but could not score the game-tying touchdown.

Bottom line: Woodland’s inability to keep Ridgefield’s running game contained last week does not bode well against the Class 4A Tigers.
