Week 2 football preview: Woodland vs. Ridgefield

When, where: 7 p.m. Friday at Ridgefield High School.

Last meeting: Ridgefield won 27-7 on Sept. 10, 2010 in Woodland.

Last week: Woodland beat Kalama 48-33; Ridgefield beat Fort Vancouver 37-8.

Woodland (1-0): Even though the Beavers have experience in the passing game, they used the ground attack to beat Kalama. … Eli Whitmire rushed 19 times for 211 yards and three TDs. … Cy Whitmire had 173 yards on 20 carries and 1 TD. He also returned a fumble 58 yards for a TD. … Adam Shoup complete 4 of 6 passes for 61 yards. Two of those passes when to Nick Fuller for TDs. Fuller had two catches for 50 yards.

Ridgefield (1-0): Michael Knox was a one-man wrecking crew against Fort. He rushed for 247 yards on 16 carries and three TDs. He also returned a kickoff 85 yards for a TD. … Ridgefield rushed for 406 yards as a team and gained 424 yards of offense against Fort.

Bottom line: Both teams piled up big rushing games in the opener. But Woodland’s experience in the passing game could be the difference.
