Week 2 football preview: Union vs. Enumclaw

When, where: 7 p.m. Friday at Enumclaw Stadium, Enumclaw HS

Last meeting: Union 38-7 on Sept. 11, 2010 in Vancouver.

Last week: Union lost 27-10 at Bothell; Enumclaw beat Yelm 28-14

Union (0-1): Union knew defense was going to be a strength. And the Titans forced four turnovers from 10th-ranked Bothell last week, helping Union take an early 10-0 lead. … But the offense struggled to move the ball consistently, and the Cougars took over from there. … RB Brandon Brody-Heim rushed for 43 yards on 12 carries as Union rushed for 75 yards as a team … QB Kaben Humphrey-Butler was 9 for 24 passing for 70 yards.

Enumclaw (1-0): Tyler Carlson scored on three TD runs against Yelm. … The Hornets return nine starters from a team that went 3-6 last season. … QB Carlson is a standout baseball player and Washington State recruit. … OLB Ryan Chynoweth leads the defense. … The Hornets employ a spread offense, but Carlson struggled throwing the ball. He completed only 9 of 31 attempts for 133 yards. He ran for 77 yards on 13 carries.

Bottom line: Two long road trips is not the easiest way to open the season, but Union should find better success in Enumclaw.
