Week 2 football preview: Skyview vs. Coeur d’Alene

When, where: 1 p.m. Saturday at Viking Stadium, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho

Last meeting: Skyview won 36-34 on Sept. 10, 2010 in Vancouver.

Last week: Skyview lost 27-24 to Sherwood, Ore.; Coeur d’Alene beat Moses Lake 32-14.

Skyview(0-1): The Storm played Sherwood tough, taking a 24-19 lead into the fourth quarter. … Kieran McDonagh was 16 for 22 for 187 yards passing against Sherwood. He also rushed for 33 yards. … RB Parker Henry gained 135 yards on 21 carries. … Forest Russell caught six passes for 111 yards and a TD. … But the Storm gave up 248 yards passing to Sherwood.

Coeur d’Alene (2-0): The Vikings already have two games under their belt after having beat Rocky Mountain of Meridian, Idaho 37-24 two weeks ago. … The Vikings are ranked No. 1 in 5A, Idaho’s top division. … The Vikings beat Moses Lake last week in the Emerald City Classic at Century Link Field, home of the Seattle Seahawks. … QB Chad Chalich passed for 207 yards on 14-of-21 passing. He also rushed for a team-high 72 yards on 15 carries. … But the Vikings also were flagged for 12 penalties for 118 yards.

Bottom line: Coeur d’Alene is the second 2010 state champion in two weeks for Skyview. Last year, Skyview rebounded from a tough loss against Sherwood to beat Coeur d’Alene. But last year’s game was not preceded by a long trip to Idaho.
