Week 2 football preview: Rochester vs. La Center

When, where: 7 p.m. Friday at La Center Middle School.

Last meeting: La Center won 20-0 on Sept. 10, 2010 in Rochester

Last week: La Center lost to Hockinson 43-34; Rochester lost to Castle Rock 34-0.

Rochester (0-1): The Warriors fell behind 14-0 in the first quarter and never really threatened Castle Rock. … Tim Rios led Rochester with 68 yards rushing. … The Warriors only managed 113 yards of offense against Castle Rock.

La Center (0-1): La Center played Hockinson close. The Wildcats were tied 22-22 at halftime and trailed 29-28 early in the fourth quarter. … La Center was driving for a potential go-ahead score late in the game. But the Wildcats fumbled and Hockinson returned it 48 yards for the final score. … Patrick Mayolo rushed 16 times for 120 yards and two TDs. … Jake Johnson completed 13 of 23 passes for 179 yards and two TDs for the Wildcats.

Bottom line: La Center looks to be as strong as last season, with the ability to run and pass. That may not be the case for Rochester.
