Week 2 football preview: Prairie vs. Hockinson

When, where: 7 p.m. Friday at Nautilus Field, Hockinson HS.

Last meeting: Prairie beat Hockinson 54-21 on Sept. 10, 2010 at District Stadium

Last week: Prairie lost to Lakewood 36-31; Hockinson beat La Center 43-34.

Prairie (0-1): Prairie had solid effort in Week 1, taking a 31-24 lead over Lakewood into the fourth quarter. … Prairie maintained a 31-30 lead until Jake Peterson completed a 32-yard TD pass to Brandon Stott to give Lakewood the lead. … Colin Seitz had an outstanding game, completing 24 of 36 passes for 311 yards and three TDs. He also rushed for 47 yards on six carries. … Ansel Cecil caught 7 passes for 103 yards and two TDS.

Hockinson (1-0): After going 2-8 last season, getting the first win last week was big confidence boost for the Hawks. … RB Josiah Niemela led the Hawks with 125 yard rushing on 19 carries. He scored one touchdown. … The Hawks were also aided by big plays. Nick Barclay returned a kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown. Then as La Center was driving for a potential go-ahead score in the fourth quarter, Jacob Reagan returned a fumble 48 yards for the final TD. … Sophomore QB Jesse Krahn completed 4 of 12 passes for 53 yards.

Bottom line: Hockinson got off to the right start against La Center, but Prairie has too many weapons. The Falcons have the edge in the Battle of Brush Prairie.
