Last week: Lakes beat Clover Park 63-8; Evergreen lost 49-7 to Mountain View.

Lakes (1-0): The Lancers dominated Clover Park with their backup QB in the lineup. That backup, David Wood, completed 9 of 11 passes for 192 yards and six touchdowns. … Regular starter Cedric Dozier sat out for precautionary reasons after suffering a concussion in practice. … The last time the Lancers were in Clark County, they beat Camas in the 3A state quarterfinal game. … Lakes’ strength is in its size up front. The Lancers have Zach Banner (6-9, 330) and Zaheer Webb (6-3, 310) up front. … Lakes is ranked No. 2 in Class 3A by the Seattle Times.

Evergreen (0-1): The Plainsmen’ lone returning starter had a rough opener against Mountain View. QB Anthony Thomas complete 2 of 7 passes for 37 yards and one touchdown. Thomas scored Evergreen’s lone TD on a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter. He finished with nine carries and one net yard. … Jesse Straup led Evergreen in rushing with 4 carries for 42 yards. … Evergreen managed only 109 yards of total offense as Mountain View led 35-0 at halftime and 49-0 in the fourth quarter.

Bottom line: Mountain View would be seriously challenged by playing Lakes. Evergreen lost by 42 points to Mountain View.
