Game time change for Evergreen girls

The Evergreen girls basketball team had its first game Friday at Class 4A Richland Regional of the state tournament pushed back to a 7:30 p.m. start.

Evergreen was originally scheduled to play Gonzaga Prep of Spokane at 4 p.m. Friday in a loser-out game at Richland High School.

But because, like Evergreen, Gonzaga Prep is sending both boys and girls teams to the Richland Regional, organizers moved the schedule so that those schools could have their teams play back-to-back.

So on Friday, the Evergreen boys will face Ferris at 5:45 p.m. The Evergreen and Gonzaga Prep girls will follow at 7:30 p.m. and the Gonzaga Prep and AC Davis boys will play at 9:15 p.m.

This actually could come as good news to Evergreen fans planning on making the drive to the Tri-Cities to cheer on the Plainsmen teams. The forecast in Richland calls for 1-2 inches of snow possible on Thursday. But Friday will be clear and sunny … and cold.

Friday’s high temperature in Richland will be 29. The low will be seven. Seven degrees. Fahrenheit.

Anyway, the later game time will allow Evergreen fans the chance to get a later start on the road to Richland.
