Camas' Williams doubtful for return

Camas senior Melissa Williams, The Columbian’s All-Region player of the year last season, was a no-go again Friday with a knee injury, as the Papermakers lost to Mountain View to complete the regular season.

Williams has not played since the first time the Papermakers faced the Thunder, Jan. 14. At the time, she had hoped to be back within a week. But she later learned she dislocated her kneecap.

After Friday’s game, she said she doubts she will play again for the Papermakers, but she will not count herself out completely.

Camas will play Kelso on Monday in a league tiebreaker. If the Papermakers win on Monday, they will clinch a berth into the bi-district tournament the following week.

Even if Camas falls to Kelso on Monday, the Papermakers could still advance to the bi-district by winning the first-round game of the district tournament Tuesday against Hudson’s Bay, Fort Vancouver or Columbia River.
