State volleyball moved to Olympia/Lacey

A change of venue for the state volleyball tournaments will come as good news to Clark County fans.

The Seattle Times reports that the Class 4A, 3A and 2A state tournaments will move to Lacey/Olympia beginning next fall.

The 4A and 3A tournaments will be played on a three-court facility at Saint Martin’s University in Lacey. The 2A tournament will be held at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, which has two courts.

The Class 1A, 2B and 1B tournaments will remain at the Yakima SunDome.

The 4A and 3A tournaments have been in Kennewick since 2006 and were held in Everett the three years before that.

In an effort to keep the tournaments on schedule, matches on the championship side of the bracket will remain best-of-five. However, loser-out matches including the trophy matches for third, fifth and seventh place will be a best-of-three.

State tournaments for all classifications will be held over Friday and Saturday, Nov. 11-12, eliminating the Thursday/Friday schedule used for some brackets in previous seasons.
