Ridgefield volleyball with interesting win
The Ridgefield Spudders took an interesting route to a five-game volleyball victory at Castle Rock.
The Spudders were outscored 106-85, but got the victory with three close victories. Scores were 25-21, 10-25, 25-23, 10-25, 15-12.
Yeah, look at those scores again. The Spudders scored 10 points each in the second and fourth games.
Of course, the Spudders don’t mind. They won the other three games for the match victory.
“It’s all mental. They just got their confidence back and worked as a team,” Ridgefield coach Sabrina Dobbs said.
Dobbs had the right things to say after Game 2.
“I told them that they’re amazing and that they are better than they showed. I wanted them to be a perfect teammate, to play as hard as they can play,” Dobbs said.
Then, after Game 4, she said pretty much the same thing.
“This is our opportunity to show them we’re a better team,” the coach said.
Then Ridgefield held off the Rockets in the final game.
“The girls were jumping. Some of them had some tears,” Dobbs said. “We were exhausted, but the adrenaline was amazing.”
