Ojukwu Advances In 100

Union’s Kinsley Ojukwu, who has been battling a hamstring injury for several weeks, won his heat and advanced to the finals of the Class 3A 100 meters at the state track meet.

“It still hurts. I almost pulled it right now,” said Ojukwu, the 2008 state champion in the event. He finished with the best qualifying time at 11.32 seconds, running into a strong head wind.

The final is scheduled for 12:50 p.m. Saturday. Ojukwu also is scheduled to compete in the triple jump, which begins at 10:15 a.m. Saturday.
