Anna Adamko Knows How To Celebrate

As birthday presents go, this was a pretty good one for Columbia River’s Anna Adamko.

Adamko, a junior, won the Class 3A discus title Thursday with a personal-record throw of 126 feet, 11 inches. And it happened to come on her 17th birthday.

Adamko recorded her winning mark on her first throw, but proceeded to put together a solid series that included marks of 124-7 and 121-8.

“Best present ever,” Adamko said.

But there might be more to come. She is the defending champion and the No. 1 seed for today’s javelin competition, and is the No. 4 seed for Saturday’s shot put.
