Saturday basketball update

Wild night in high school sports. Here is what we know, as of 10:55 p.m. Saturday night.

CLASS 3A

The Prairie girls are going back to state. The Falcons beat White River 64-58 in the Class 3A bi-district tournament. The Falcons advance to the semifinals of this tournament, but do not need to win any more games in this tourney to advance. Saturday’s win clinched a spot to state. The next two games are for seeding purposes.

The Union girls stayed alive, as well, beating Tyee 50-31. Union is in a different bracket, though, and has not clinched a spot to state. The Titans will play Wednesday and must win that game to get to state.

The 3A state tournament begins March 10. The Union boys and Prairie girls have clinched berths. The Camas girls, the Union girls, and the Hudson’s Bay boys are still alive but must win their next games to advance to state.

CLASS 4A

For the second consecutive year, the 4A Greater St. Helens League will not have a representative at state. The Mountain View boys and Skyview boys lost bi-district playoff games Saturday night, as did the Evergreen girls and Skyview girls.

CLASS 2A

Hockinson lost a tough one to Tumwater, 62-60, and River Ridge beat Ridgefield 55-46 in opening round games of the double-elimination district boys tournament.

CLASS 1A

The La Center girls fell to Onalaska, 37-35, in a winner-to-state game. Instead, La Center’s season comes to an end.
