Snickers' diet
Say goodbye to king size. Snickers candy bar is going on a diet.
The candy-maker Mars, Inc., announced it will stop selling chocolaty treats with more than 250 calories per portion by the end of 2013.
Today’s version of a king-sized Snickers bar has 510 calories, although the wrapper indicates a serving size is 1/3 of the candy bar.
For snackers who like to get the most chocolate out of their purchase, Mars told NPR it would replace the big king-sized bars with bags of two to four smaller bars to “enable sharing or saving a portion for later.”
A regular-size Snickers has 280 calories. Those bars will either get skinnier or shorter in order to drop down to 250 calories.
Maybe this is why the miniature Snickers candy bars are called “fun size.” They only have 80 calories.
