Harvest Days fun run draws a crowd

More than 500 people braved rainy mid-July weather to take part in a Battle Ground fun run.

The new nonprofit organization Get BOLD Events hosted the third annual Harvest Days Runs in Battle Ground two weeks ago.

Last year, 150 people participated. This year, 520 people turned out for the half marathon, 8K run and 2-mile family run/walk.

The runs started and finished at Battle Ground Village, where Harvest Days events were taking place. The courses took runners on country rounds around Battle Ground Lake.

All of the money raised from the event supported the North County Community Food Bank.

Get BOLD Events is based in Battle Ground and designs, organizes, and manages athletic events that benefit local charities. In addition to the Harvest Days Run, the organization hosts the Resolution Run in January and the North County Wine Run in October.

The organization also offers two exercise programs.

The two training programs led by ACE-certified personal trainer Karen King are the Tri with Karen, a three month triathlon/duathlon training clinic, and Boot Camp in the Park, a four week boot camp exercise program.
