Three recovery month events in Clark County
September is national drug and alcohol Recovery Month, celebrating freedom from substance abuse and addiction. We at Live Well are commemorating the month by featuring a range of local recovery stories.
There are also several local events celebrating recovery month. Here are three recommended by Lynn Samuels of Lifeline Connections, a drug and alcohol treatment center in Vancouver and Live Well partner.
Hands Across the Bridge
Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5, 10 a.m. to noon
This marks the 10th anniversary of the Hands Across the Bridge event. Thousands of recovering addicts and supporters gather on the I-5 Bridge to join hands and reach across the Columbia River.
Ice Cream Social
Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2-4 p.m., Lifeline Connections
In celebration of recovery month Lifeline Connections is holding an ice cream social. Wear recovery t-shirts and hats if you have them to show support for recovery from alcohol and drugs.
Community Recovery Forum
Thursday, Sept. 22, 4:45 to 7:45 p.m. at the Lord’s Gym, 2410 Grand Ave., Vancouver.
The Clark County Substance Abuse Advisory Board will host the 10th annual community recovery forum to bring together individuals, affected families and treatment providers and encourage others toward recovery. Several agencies and organizations will also host resource tables.
