Ice cream sundae…with bacon?

As I’ve said before, I don’t understand the bacon fascination.

But some bacon meals seem reasonable, at least for those who like bacon.

The BLT, for example, seems like an acceptable way to eat bacon. Bacon also seems like an appropriate part of pretty much any breakfast meal. And who opposes bacon bits on salads?

But I really can’t wrap my head around the latest creation from Burger King.

The bacon sundae.

The new dessert hits the BK menu Thursday.

What’s in a bacon sundae, you ask?

The salty-sweet sundae consists of vanilla soft serve with fudge, caramel, bacon crumbles and a piece of bacon sticking out of the bowl like a spoon.

The BK treat also comes with 510 calories, 18 grams of fat and 61 grams of sugar.

I hope for the sake of all bacon-sundae eaters that the bacon actually looks similar to the pieces depicted in the photo. All I can imagine is greasy, microwave-cooked bacon stuck in ice cream.

If anyone chooses the bacon sundae over the hot fudge variety, please send me a photo and let me know what you thought of it.
